A Scene From San Francisco
Here’s a quick street scene from a recent visit to San Francisco… one of my New Year’s resolutions was to appreciate my own back yard more. And California certainly has so much to offer! I’m spending time in San Francisco because I am an advisor to the only art school in the country to have an MBA program — The unique two-year Design Strategy program at California College of Arts (CCA) is targeted at self-motivated students “who are pioneers, interested in collaboration and meaningful change in the world.” The curriculum includes systems thinking, design and integrative thinking, sustainability, finance, entrepreneurship, and leadership lessons and skills. And they have great studio space on campus.

Women in Business Conference
I’m honored to be speaking at the 10th Annual Women in Business Conference this weekend. Women in Business (WIB) is a student run network that strives to enhance the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University experience for all women in the MBA program. This year the conference is being held at the Ebay business campus in San Jose. The speakers represent a wide array of successful businesswomen including Liz Fetter who is the CEO of NxGen Modular, Barbara Kamm, President and CEO of Tech CU, and Bethany Mayer of Hewlett-Packard. I’ll be on a panel with Arlene Samen, Founder and Executive Director of One Heart World-Wide, and Linda Alepin, Founding Director of the Global Women’s Leadership Network. We are going to discuss creating a net impact and how to use the practices of entrepreneurship to create social change. I’m really looking forward to talking with these inspiring accomplished women and meeting the next generation of women entrepreneurs.
