Fundraiser
For Two Local Nature Organizations. Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and
Santa Cruz/Ventana Chapter of Sierra Club are beneficiaries Saturday, September
30, noon to five in Abbot Plaza, next to Annieglass Store
Celebration of Community, Art, Nature, Culture, Music and Conservation
Butterfly fans of all ages are hereby alerted that the afternoon of September 30th will be particularly exciting at the Annieglass store in downtown Santa Cruz. To herald the seasonal return of the Monarch butterfly to nearby Natural Bridges State Park, and to raise funds to support the Monarchs threatened local habitat, the store is sponsoring BUTTERFLY DAY. Between noon and five pm, simultaneous with the premiere of its butterfly-themed tableware collection, Annieglass will host an education series led by state park Monarch experts, whimsical musical performances by the 5Ms, participatory artmaking, and the raffle of spectacular prizes, including a cake decorated with sculpted sugar Monarchs by couture cake designer Edith Meyer. Next door, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History will offer docent tours of its galleries and its own staff-led artmaking opportunities. Events occur outdoors in Abbott Plaza, adjacent to the Annieglass store at 110 Cooper Street, downtown Santa Cruz.
Attendance is free and open to the public.
